My Commitment to 2SLGBTQIA Newcomers

As an immigrant from the beautiful Caribbean island of Saint Lucia, I understand both the challenges and opportunities that come with building a new life in Canada. Like many newcomers, I came to this country with hope, ambition, and a deep appreciation for the opportunities Canada provides to individuals and families seeking a better future.

Canada is one of the most welcoming and diverse nations in the world, and I have tremendous respect for those who choose to immigrate here with the intention of becoming productive, law-abiding, and community-minded citizens. I strongly believe in the importance of integration, assimilation, mutual respect, and contributing positively to the communities we call home.

Being Canadian is not only about citizenship paperwork — it is about embracing shared values, respecting the laws of this country, supporting one another, and taking pride in helping build a stronger and more united society for future generations.

I welcome and congratulate all those who have recently become citizens of Canada. Your hard work, perseverance, and commitment to this country deserve recognition and celebration. Your contributions help strengthen our economy, enrich our culture, and make our communities more vibrant and resilient.

As someone who understands the immigrant experience firsthand, I remain committed to supporting newcomers who are working hard to integrate, settle, contribute, and succeed here in London and across Canada.

Together, we can continue building safe, respectful, and united communities that reflect the very best of what Canada represents.
